Remarriage Success - The Most Simple But Powerful Gesture You Can Make to Your Spouse

Marriage requires a lot of energy, doesn’t it? With a step family there are so many people with so many needs that sometimes it can feel overwhelming. Even with that being the case, one of the key ingredients to a good marriage is being aappreciative of what your partner does for you.

I've said it before in several articles, but it's worth repeating, "Taking your spouse for granted is the death of your marriage." If you've been divorced, think about your previous marriage. When you boil it all down, does that statement reflect what happened in that marriage?

Never forget that getting married is a choice you've both made. That means that whatever your spouse does for you is a choice as well. They don't HAVE to do it. We forget this when it comes to actions that our spouse has just always done. But what would you do if they suddenly stopped?

Pay attention to those little chores, comments or actions they take that make your life easier. I'm talking about those little gestures: the kiss before you leave, helping make dinner, doing everybody's laundry. Don’t take these for granted just because your spouse has always done them. And most importantly, don't forget to tell them "Thank you!"

All of us like to be acknowledged for things we do. You might be surprised how much your word of thanks means to your spouse. It could take them completely off guard because you’ve never done it before. And to be honest, we're all little kids at heart hoping to be acknowledged for the good deed we've done. If you appreciate those things, the more you acknowledge them, the more likely you are to continue receiving them.

This little acknowledgment lets your spouse know they are important. You aren't taking them for granted. You are happy they are a part of your life and you're glad you made the choice to marry them. Don't let life get in the way of this simple but powerful gesture.
