Remarriage Success - How to Keep Your Eye on the Right Prize in Your Remarriage
Step family life can get pretty crazy can’t it? You’ve got so many pulls on your time, sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re coming or going! Unfortunately, one of the first things that usually gets dropped from the schedule is time together as a couple. Well let me warn you right now – don’t do that!! Time for each other is a prime ingredient in any happy marriage. One of the main reasons couples don’t spend as much time together is because they become very preoccupied with helping their kids feel more comfortable with their new family. Yes, it's important to carve out time to help your family grow close, but what about your marriage? Here's my response when couples use this as an excuse for not having enough time for one another anymore: "You obviously made time for one another when you were dating! What's changed so much that makes it impossible now?" My guess is that your priorities have shifted. Many couples spend tons of time together before the wedding. It’s like striving to achieve the “prize”. After the prized wedding has happened, they stop investing because they think they’ve got what they wanted all along. Well, it's time to shift your priorities back again! I'm not talking extravagant week long vacations here. You just need to have a chance to re-connect with each other on a regular basis. How this is done depends on you. As a couple, you will need to define how often or how long your time together needs to be. Each partner's need for time will vary. The key is making sure you come up with a compromise that will make both of you happy. Once that’s done - make it happen
